Police sources now say the violent motorcycle crash and stabbing on Highland Boulevard in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn, may have been a targeted attack carried out in retaliation, according to News 12. The station reported that a man and a 17-year-old boy were riding a motorcycle near Miller Avenue on Monday night when a grey Acura collided with them, sending both flying off the bike.
According to News 12, after the crash another car — a black car — pulled up and two men got out and stabbed one of the men on the ground. The station relayed a witness account describing the two men getting out of the car and attacking the victim as he lay in the street.
Police sources say the initial crash seemed intentional, News 12 reported. The station said the motorcycle caught fire in the chaos, and a neighbor described grabbing a fire extinguisher and handing it to an officer as the bike and part of the street burned.
The driver of the motorcycle suffered severe injuries from the crash and remains in critical condition, according to News 12, while the 17-year-old was also taken to the hospital and is now in stable condition. The station described a chaotic scene on the residential street on Monday night.
Neighbors say the violent chain of events actually appears to have started minutes before with a shooting nearby, News 12 reported. The station said the sequence began around the corner before it spilled onto Highland Boulevard.
In surveillance video described by News 12, two motorcycles speed along Jackie Robinson Parkway just around the corner before shots ring out. The station said that seconds later, the same grey Acura recovered at the crash scene speeds by, followed by a black sedan that matches witnesses' description.
Police say the people inside the grey Acura ran off after the incident, and the people inside the black sedan also fled, according to News 12. The station reported that there have been no arrests as police remain at the scene investigating exactly how the events unfolded.
