The RCMP says one of the planes ended up in a pond after the collision, CBC reported. According to the broadcaster, that is where a man was found dead, the single fatality in the mid-air crash between the two aircraft.
The other plane involved in the collision managed to land safely at Chilliwack Airport, CBC reported. The broadcaster said the aircraft was able to make it down despite the mid-air impact that sent the other plane into the pond.
No one on board the plane that landed was hurt, according to CBC. The broadcaster contrasted that outcome with the death of the man whose plane came down in the water, underscoring how differently the collision ended for the two aircraft.
