A man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant in connection with the alleged killing of his parents has been arrested after a 10-day manhunt. Police identified the man as Jordan Sangwin.
According to police, Sangwin was located on June 27 at around 5 p.m. The Toronto Police Service said that, thanks to a tip from a member of the public, officers found and apprehended him in the area of Mimico Creek Park.
Police said Sangwin was found in a makeshift shelter at that location. He was then taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
After being detained, Sangwin was turned over to the Peel Regional Police Homicide Unit. He has now formally been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
Investigators said they had been searching for Sangwin since June 18. That was when his parents, both in their 70s, were found with life-threatening injuries inside a home in Mississauga.
Both parents were taken to hospital after being found at the residence. The two counts of first-degree murder now laid against Sangwin relate to their deaths.
The arrest brings an end to the 10-day search that followed the discovery at the Mississauga home. With the charges laid and Sangwin in custody, the case has been handed to the Peel Regional Police Homicide Unit for further investigation.
