Two RCMP officers were shot in the line of duty outside a home in a small town northeast of Regina, Saskatchewan, in a burst of violence that has rattled the close-knit community. A 55-year-old man is now in custody and facing serious charges in connection with the attack on the two Mounties.
For residents, the shooting unfolded with terrifying speed. One neighbour described hearing a rapid string of gunshots ring out, followed by a whistling sound and the unmistakable smell of gunpowder in the air, leaving people scrambling to understand what was happening around them.
