A 31-year-old man, Kensworth Alton Francis, has been sentenced to life in prison for a 2022 shooting at the ATL lounge in Vaughan that killed two security guards and injured a 20-year-old woman.

A man convicted in a double homicide at a Vaughan nightclub has been sentenced to life in prison. According to the information reported by CityNews Toronto, York Regional Police say that 31-year-old Kensworth Alton Francis was found guilty in connection with the deadly shooting.

The events date back to 2022, when shots were fired at the ATL lounge in Vaughan. The shooting killed two security guards and injured a 20-year-old woman, in an attack that led to the case now concluded with the sentencing.

Francis was found guilty of murder charges and one count of unlawfully causing bodily harm. The murder charges relate to the two security guards who died, while the bodily harm count is tied to the 20-year-old woman who was injured in the shooting.

A Canada-wide warrant had been issued against Francis in connection with the case. He was arrested in 2024 in the United States and was subsequently extradited to Canada to face the charges before the court.

For the convictions, Francis was handed two life sentences with no chance of parole for 25 years. The sentence reflects the gravity attached to the double homicide at the Vaughan nightclub.

According to the report, Francis is already serving an eight-year sentence for a separate offence. The life sentences now imposed close the case over the 2022 shooting at the ATL lounge that left two security guards dead and a young woman injured.
