Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is in Mongolia for high-level talks aimed at further deepening ties between the neighbouring countries, in a visit centred on the capital, Ulaanbaatar.
During the three-day visit, Wang met Mongolia's president and is also due to meet the country's prime minister and hold talks with its foreign minister.
The two sides said they were focused on enhancing economic cooperation, advancing infrastructure development and improving regional connectivity, voicing confidence in reaching a shared trade target of 20 billion dollars by the end of the year and in setting more ambitious goals for bilateral trade going forward.
China remains Mongolia's largest trading partner, accounting for more than half of the country's total trade volume.
The relationship is underpinned by Mongolia's substantial exports of coal, copper and other mineral resources to its southern neighbour, making stable ties with Beijing a critical pillar of Mongolia's economic growth and future development.
The visit also comes as both sides seek to improve cross-border logistics, streamline customs procedures and facilitate trade, with joint infrastructure and energy projects under Belt and Road cooperation continuing to strengthen links between the two countries.
