President Bola Tinubu has condemned an attack on Naridon village, in the Kamuru Ward of the Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, in which about 30 residents were killed. According to the account, the assault took place in the early hours of Monday and struck what was described as a community of innocent citizens.
The attack led to the killing of about 30 residents, among them women and children. Alongside the loss of life, the homes of the victims were burned down, compounding the devastation suffered by the community in the course of the assault.
The president described the assault as an unprovoked act of terror against defenceless people. In his words, the killings were not the outcome of any confrontation but an attack directed at residents who had done nothing to invite it, underlining the gravity with which the government views what happened.
President Tinubu stressed that those who seek to destabilise the hard-fought peace and security recorded in recent times will not go unpunished. The warning tied the response to the attack to the broader effort to protect the security gains that the authorities say have been made in the area.
The president extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families who lost their relatives in the attack. His message of sympathy was directed first to those most directly affected by the killings in the village.
He also extended his condolences to Governor Uba Sani, the government and the entire people of Kaduna State. In doing so, the president linked the loss suffered by the village to the wider community of the state, presenting the attack as a blow felt beyond Naridon itself.
