The Lagos State Police Command has said that an investigation is progressing over a suspicious parcel containing live ammunition that was delivered to the Managing Director of First Bank, Oluwasegun Alebiosu. The case has been described by the police as serious and is being treated with significant attention.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr. Tijani Fatai, spoke on the incident while addressing journalists at the command headquarters in Ikeja. He gave an account of how the package came to the attention of the bank executive and the authorities.

According to the police, the parcel was earlier received by the Managing Director's security guard before it was handed over to him. It was after the package reached the bank chief that its contents were discovered, prompting concern over the delivery.

The Commissioner of Police said the package contained two pieces of live ammunition, precisely of the 7.62mm type. The discovery of the live ammunition concealed in the parcel was what raised suspicion and led the command to open an investigation into the matter.

Mr. Fatai noted that forensic investigations would be carried out to determine the circumstances surrounding the delivery of the parcel. He stressed that the case was a serious one and that the investigation needed to be thorough before any conclusions could be drawn.

The Commissioner of Police confirmed that, at present, no suspect is in custody in connection with the case. He added that, although the Managing Director had mentioned some persons he suspected might be behind it, those remained the executive's suspicions while the police continued to work on the matter.
