Troops of Sector 2 of Operation Fasan Yamma have rescued 22 kidnapped victims during separate operations in the Sabon Birni and Isa local government areas of Sokoto State, in north-western Nigeria.
According to the account of the operations, the troops responded to a terrorist attack in Kuramota village, where passengers were abducted after two civilian vehicles were attacked. One civilian was killed during the incident.
A coordinated pursuit, supported by aerial surveillance, forced the attackers to abandon 17 of the captives, who were then successfully rescued by the troops.
In a separate operation at Chohi village, troops thwarted an attempt to abduct farmers and rescued five victims following a swift chase, bringing the total number of those freed to 22.
After the rescues, the troops conducted confidence-building patrols in nearby communities to reassure residents and sustain pressure on the criminal elements operating in the area.
In parallel, the Nigeria Air Force said it had sustained air operations against terrorists and armed groups across the north-west under the same Operation Fasan Yamma. Acting on intelligence, its aircraft struck a confirmed terrorist enclave, disrupting activities and degrading operational capabilities.
The Air Force added that it remained committed to intelligence-driven operations alongside ground forces, with the stated aim of dismantling the networks behind the attacks and restoring lasting peace in the region.
