Hyundai recalls more than 96,000 Tucson hybrids over display fault

Hyundai is recalling more than 96,000 vehicles over a software issue that could cause the instrument panel display to go blank. According to the recall, the fault could increase the chance of a crash.

The instrument panel is the screen directly in front of the driver that shows key information such as speed and warning indicators. If it goes blank, a driver can be left without those readouts while the vehicle is in motion, which is why the issue has been flagged as a safety concern.

The recall covers certain Tucson hybrid and Tucson plug-in hybrid models. The affected vehicles span the 2025 to 2026 model years.

Hyundai said there have been no confirmed reports of any crashes caused by the issue. The recall is being carried out as a precaution to address the software problem before it can lead to an incident on the road.

Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by mail. The company said those notifications are expected to go out in late August.

Recalls of this kind are typically handled at no cost to the owner, with dealers carrying out the necessary work once customers are contacted. Drivers are generally advised to watch for official notification letters and follow the instructions provided.

The action adds the Tucson hybrid lineup to the list of vehicles affected by software-related recalls, an area that has drawn growing attention as cars rely more heavily on digital displays and onboard systems.
