The city of Iasi is preparing to host the 3rd edition of the Economic Forum, an event aimed at consolidating the Moldovan capital's position as a regional strategic investment hub on the eastern flank of the European Union. The forum will take place June 4-5, 2026, at Hotel Unirea and Grand Hotel Traian. Over 350 participants from six countries, Romania, Germany, Poland, the United Kingdom, Moldova and Ukraine, are expected at an event that combines substantive debates with concrete networking and business partnership opportunities.
The special guest of this edition is Dr. Delia Dimitriu, an internationally recognised figure in climate change and sustainable development. A professor at Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK, Dr. Dimitriu was a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change team that won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007, shared with former US Vice President Al Gore. Her contribution to the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report, Working Group 3 on Mitigation of Climate Change, Chapter 8 on Transport, brought her international recognition in scientific and public policy circles.
Beyond her academic work, Dr. Dimitriu is the founder of Smarter Mobility Solutions Ltd in the UK and Delta Blue Assets SRL in Romania. In September 2021, she launched the Tulcea 3D Initiative dedicated to decarbonising the Danube Delta, an ambitious project bringing together researchers from Germany, Bulgaria, Portugal, Belgium, Croatia and Italy. Her vision includes transforming Tulcea port and the Delta into a green zone powered by 100% renewable energy, with fast-charging stations using photovoltaic systems and electric boat fleets for passenger transport.

The second day features nine simultaneous thematic panels from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM, covering infrastructure and logistics, Romania-Moldova economic integration, local administration cooperation, the new 2026 tax reality, energy and decarbonization, legislative frameworks, digitalization and AI, financing opportunities, and salary transparency. B2B networking sessions follow from 2:00 PM.
