A Category 5 typhoon has been tearing across the Pacific, slamming into Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands with tremendous force.
The storm packed winds of up to 180 miles per hour as it moved through the region, forecasters said.
Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands are home to critical U.S. military bases, as well as American residents.
The typhoon is now gearing up to make landfall again in a couple of days.
After that, the storm is expected to continue on a path toward mainland China.
Forecasters warned that it would remain a huge and devastating storm, bringing a great deal of rainfall over the coming days.
