A 34-year-old woman was grazed by a bullet fired inside a building in the Fordham section of the Bronx early Monday, in a shooting that ended with a man being taken into custody at the scene. Police said the gunfire rang out just before 1:30 a.m. at 2700 Jerome Avenue, jolting neighbors awake and drawing officers to the residential building overnight.
According to police sources, the violence erupted after an argument inside an apartment. What began as a dispute between people who knew each other escalated into gunfire within the building, leaving one woman wounded and sending a wave of alarm through a block where residents said they had already grown wary of the man now accused in the shooting.
The woman was grazed in the ear by the bullet, a wound that could have been far worse. Video from the scene showed her being wheeled out of the building and taken to a local hospital, where she was expected to be okay. Moments after the woman was taken away, police were seen walking a man out of the building in handcuffs.
