A former teacher at a private school in Friendswood, Texas is behind bars, charged with continuous sexual abuse of a young child. According to FOX 26 Houston, Friendswood police made the arrest the previous night, taking 32-year-old Lewis Stott of Seabrook into custody in a case that has alarmed the community and prompted investigators to look for anyone else who may have been harmed.
The investigation centers on the Galloway School, a private school in Friendswood, and spans a period from 2020 through this year. That timeframe covers several years during which, police say, Stott was working at the school and had regular contact with students, making the scope of the case a central focus for detectives.
Stott held several different roles at the Galloway School over that time. He worked as a physical education teacher, taught second grade, served as a substitute, and also coached soccer. Those overlapping positions meant he interacted with children in multiple settings across the school, from the classroom to the athletic field.
Because of that broad access to children, Friendswood police say there could be more victims than the one tied to the current charge. Investigators are asking any families whose children may have had contact with Stott, and who have information, to come forward as the investigation continues.
The Galloway School responded through its attorney, Chris Tritico, who said Stott left the school back in May. Tritico said the school is cooperating with multiple investigations into the matter and stressed the institution's commitment to the students in its care as the case moves forward.
"The Galloway School's first priority is the safety, the education of children entrusted to our care," Tritico said in the statement. FOX 26 noted that Tritico is also the station's senior legal analyst. For now, Stott remains jailed as Friendswood police press ahead with an investigation they say may not be limited to a single victim.
