A coordinated law enforcement operation in Galveston County led to a large drug seizure and an arrest on Friday, authorities said, capping a raid that stretched across several communities south of Houston. Officers moved in on multiple locations at once, hauling away drugs, weapons and cash and taking a suspect into custody in what investigators described as a major bust in the county.
According to authorities, officers carried out five search warrants at the same time, spreading the operation across Texas City, La Marque and Dickinson. The simultaneous nature of the raids pointed to a planned, wide-ranging investigation, with teams hitting several sites together rather than working through them one by one, a tactic often used to prevent suspects from destroying evidence or fleeing between locations.
The searches focused on storage facilities near the Gulf Freeway, the busy corridor that runs through the heart of Galveston County. Investigators worked through the units as they carried out the warrants, an operation that turned the ordinary rented storage spaces into the center of a significant narcotics case for local law enforcement in the communities along the freeway.
Inside, investigators confiscated body armor, a handgun and cash, along with a large quantity of methamphetamine. Authorities said the haul also included fentanyl, cocaine and marijuana, a mix of dangerous narcotics that pointed to more than simple possession and underscored the concern that drove officers to seek the warrants and move on the locations in the first place.
Monet Ford was arrested during the operation, according to authorities, and is now being held on a two million dollar bond. The high bond reflected the seriousness with which prosecutors were treating the case, following a raid that turned up not only a substantial stash of drugs but also body armor and a firearm alongside the cash seized from the searched sites.
The bust marked a notable strike against drug activity in Galveston County, where the combination of methamphetamine, fentanyl and other narcotics has fueled ongoing enforcement efforts. Authorities were continuing to process the evidence gathered from the five locations as the case moved forward and the suspect remained jailed on the two million dollar bond set after the Friday operation.
