A family dispute turned deadly in Southeast Houston, where police say one man shot and killed his own brother during a confrontation, FOX 26 reported. Investigators have since taken a suspect into custody.
The shooting happened in the evening hours. According to the report, it took place around 8 p.m. outside a home on Craigmont near Telephone Road in Southeast Houston.
At the heart of the case was a falling-out between the two. Houston police say the two brothers got into an argument that quickly escalated beyond words.
The confrontation took a dangerous turn as it intensified. Police say the brothers pulled out guns on each other, raising the stakes of what had begun as a verbal dispute.
What followed was a violent scuffle. According to investigators, there was a struggle over the weapons between the two men before the situation reached its deadly conclusion.
In the end, only one of them walked away. Police say one of the brothers shot and killed the other and then fled the scene immediately afterward.
The suspect did not stay free for long. Houston police say they later caught him, and as of the report there was no word on any charges in the case.
