A police officer in Las Vegas has died after a gun battle with an armed suspect, according to LiveNOW FOX. The report says the officer, who was 30 years old and served with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, was fatally wounded during the confrontation. An official who addressed the loss described a department and a community left grieving, and said the outcome had come despite an intensive effort to save the officer's life.

A caller advised that a person was waving a firearm and appeared to be intoxicated, prompting a response from law enforcement. In reaction to that report, police officers and drones were dispatched to the area, as the department moved to locate and deal with the armed man described in the call.
The situation escalated once officers reached the scene. According to LiveNOW FOX, officers made contact with the suspect and a gun battle ensued between them. It was during that exchange of gunfire that the 30-year-old officer was struck, turning a call about an armed and apparently intoxicated person into a life-threatening emergency for one of the responding officers.
Immediately after the shooting, an urgent effort was made to save the wounded officer. According to the report, he was worked on at the scene by the Clark County Fire Department, other police officers and EMS personnel. He was then transported to the University Medical Center, where doctors and nurses worked to save his life as colleagues waited for word on his condition.
Despite those combined efforts, the officer did not survive. According to LiveNOW FOX, the official confirmed that the officer had passed away, marking the outcome that first responders and medical staff had fought to prevent from the moment they reached him. The confirmation came as the department began to absorb the loss of one of its own in the line of duty.
The official also spoke about the officer's background and his years of service. According to the report, the officer was a Marine veteran who had served both the country and the community, and he had been with Metro since November 2023. That combination of military and police service framed the death as a loss felt across more than one institution that the officer had been a part of.
In the aftermath, the official described the emotional toll on those left behind. According to LiveNOW FOX, he said there were many grieving police officers and a grieving community, and explained that he had not yet been to the scene because he had gone directly to see the officer and his family. He added that more information would be released going forward, and thanked the fire department, EMS, the doctors, the nurses and Metro personnel for their efforts to save the officer's life.
