A man is behind bars in League City, Texas, after a deadly double stabbing that police say targeted his own parents. According to FOX 26 Houston, the suspect attacked his mother and father at a home in the Oaks of Clear Creek neighborhood, an assault that left his mother dead and his father fighting for his life in the hours that followed.
League City Police and first responders rushed to the residence after receiving reports of a stabbing. When they arrived at the scene, responders found both a man and a woman inside the home suffering from multiple stab wounds, and the two victims were taken for emergency treatment as officers worked to secure the property.
The outcome was devastating for the family. The mother did not survive, passing away after she was transported from the home to a local hospital. The father, meanwhile, remained in critical condition as of the latest update, according to reporter Angie Rodriguez, who was reporting live from the scene for FOX 26.
Police say the person taken into custody was identified as the victims' son. He had barricaded himself inside the home before he could be detained, and officers were eventually able to remove him from the residence. He was then placed under arrest in connection with the deadly attack on his parents.
For now, investigators have not said what may have led to the violence.
