A man riding a motorcycle was killed in a crash on Long Island, according to News 12 New York. The deadly wreck unfolded on Montauk Highway, one of the region's busy roadways, and left investigators piecing together how the collision happened.
According to police, the motorcyclist hit two cars that he was trying to pass along the highway. The attempt to move past the vehicles ended in a violent collision rather than a clear stretch of road ahead of him.
The rider, who was 33 years old, was thrown from his bike in the crash. Despite the efforts that followed, he was killed, making him the sole fatality reported in the collision on Montauk Highway.
As they looked into what happened, investigators determined that one of the other drivers involved had been drunk at the time. That finding shifted part of the focus of the case toward the impaired motorist on the road that day.
Police identified that driver as Brianna McGinn of Massapequa. She has been charged with driving while intoxicated in connection with the deadly crash, according to the station's report.
