The victims of last month's deadly implosion at the Nippon DynaWave packaging plant in Longview, Washington, are now back home with their loved ones. Nine of the eleven victims were released to their families following a procession held on Saturday.
The county coroner, State Patrol officers, and the victims' families drove together along Interstate 5 through Kelso before arriving at the coroner's office. Video from Saturday's procession along I-5 was shared by local media, capturing the convoy as it moved through the area.
At the coroner's office, nine of the eleven victims were released to their families. The two other victims were not part of the procession and were not released at that time.
As families remember those who died, new up-close photographs and video from the Department of Ecology's Joint Information Center were also made available. The footage offers a closer look at conditions inside the facility after the implosion.
The new footage shows several vehicles engulfed in the facility's courtyard. The Department of Ecology noted that some of the damage visible in the images and video was actually part of the recovery process, not the result of the implosion itself.
