Authorities in Montgomery County are asking for the public's help to find a missing grandmother, 58-year-old Maria Ortiz, according to Fox 26 Houston. Her family says Maria has dementia.
She went missing while walking home about two weeks ago in New Caney, the station reported. Maria was last seen by family around noon on July 20.
Surveillance video shows Maria walking away from a relative's home along Knoll Drive near Country Estates Drive, according to Fox 26 Houston. Her daughter says Maria lives just around the corner and told family she was walking home, but she never made it.
A few hours later, a witness reported seeing her down the street, but she has not been seen since, the station reported.
When she disappeared, Maria was wearing a blue Houston Texans shirt, blue shorts and sparkly black Crocs, according to Fox 26 Houston. Her daughter says Maria may have been confused because of her dementia and that the family is very concerned for her safety.
Maria has disappeared before, in December of last year, and was found safe the next day, the station reported.
The family hopes someone recognizes her and helps bring Maria home, and anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to call the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, according to Fox 26 Houston.
