A man is dead and his sister is detained after a shooting overnight at an apartment complex in Northwest Houston, in what police describe as an argument between the two siblings that turned deadly. According to Houston police, the shooting happened around 8:30 last night at an apartment complex on Bingle Road, and investigators spent the hours afterward working to piece together exactly how the confrontation unfolded.
The dispute, police say, began as an argument between the man and his sister at the apartment. Investigators say it escalated at the moment she told him that he could no longer stay at her apartment, a refusal over living arrangements that appears to have set off the rapid chain of events that followed. What had been a family disagreement did not stay verbal for long.
From there the confrontation shifted to her car. Houston police say the man then took her keys and tried to leave with her car, turning the quarrel over whether he could remain at the apartment into a physical dispute over her vehicle. The attempt to drive off in his sister's car was the point at which the argument between the two escalated further.
That is when the situation became violent. According to investigators, the two got into a struggle, and during that physical fight between the siblings, police say the brother's gun went off. In an instant, an argument that had started over where the man could stay had become a shooting inside the Northwest Houston complex.
