One of Florida's busy airports is set to carry a new and unmistakably political name. According to FOX 26, Palm Beach International Airport is being renamed the President Donald J. Trump International Airport, attaching the sitting president's name to a major transportation hub in a part of the state closely associated with him.
The president himself confirmed the change in his own words online. In a post on Truth Social, Trump called it a very big day in Palm Beach, Florida, and said it was his great honor to have Palm Beach International Airport renamed in his name, framing the moment as a personal milestone.
He also used the announcement to look ahead to changes at the site. Trump said the area is hot and the location is great, and promised that the renovation would be spectacular, predicting that the facility would soon become one of the greatest and most spectacular airports in the world.
The president tied the honor directly to the local community. In signing off on his post, Trump thanked everyone in Palm Beach for what he described as their vote and their confidence, suggesting the renaming followed a local decision rather than being imposed from the outside.
His family added a more personal note to the occasion. Speaking on Fox and Friends from Palm Beach, Eric Trump said the president was beyond honored and humbled by the tribute, and that he would have loved to be there in person but was returning from his trip to the NATO summit in Ankara at the time.
Supporters also pointed to the airport's growth to justify the attention. Officials and allies described Palm Beach International as one of the fastest growing airports in the country, located in one of the fastest growing areas, casting the renaming and planned upgrades as fitting for a hub they expect to keep expanding.
