One man was killed and another was wounded in a double shooting at a gas station in Spring, and the gunman remains on the run. Harris County Precinct 4 deputies, who are leading the response, described the incident as a double shooting. It unfolded at the intersection of Aldine Westfield Road and Trailing Vine Road.
The scene at the gas station pointed to a chaotic burst of gunfire. Investigators placed a large number of evidence markers across the lot, with more than 20 counted at one point. Those markers could represent anything from spent shell casings to other items that may prove important to the investigation.
According to investigators, the man pronounced dead at the scene is believed to be between 18 and 20 years old and had not yet been identified. The second victim, an 18-year-old man, was taken to hospital in stable condition and is expected to recover from his injuries.
Authorities say the shooting grew out of a confrontation. The man who died and the man who was hospitalized had been involved in some sort of physical altercation, which escalated into gunfire. A third person then arrived at the location and also began shooting.
That third individual fled before officers reached the scene and remains at large. Deputies described him only as a Black man dressed entirely in black, and said he was last seen running away on foot. No age has been given, and the search for him is ongoing.
Investigators believe the two victims knew each other in some way, though the exact nature of their relationship has not been established. They are treating it as an isolated incident rather than a random attack, and have appealed to anyone with information to come forward to Harris County Precinct 4 deputies.
