A man is accused of breaking into a Long Island home and striking a homeowner with a chair, according to a report by Eyewitness News. The break-in unfolded overnight in Nassau County.
Nassau County police say a 56-year-old man entered a home on Kathleen Drive in Syosset. He got inside through an unlocked back door last night.
Once inside the home, detectives say, the man got into an argument. The confrontation took place within the residence.
During the argument, the man struck the victim in the chest with a chair, according to police. The homeowner was assaulted inside their own home.
After the attack, the man ran from the scene, police said. He left before the situation could be brought under control at the home.
He was later arrested in connection with the break-in, according to the account. Investigators took the 56-year-old into custody following the incident.
The man now faces burglary and assault charges. The charges stem from the overnight break-in and the attack on the homeowner in Syosset.
