A man was shot and killed in Tacoma early Friday, and a suspect who was himself wounded is now in custody. Police said the suspect has been booked into the Pierce County Jail on charges of first-degree murder and robbery.
The shooting happened on North 30th Street. According to Tacoma police, officers were called to the area at around 2 a.m. on Friday after reports of gunfire.
When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot. Despite the emergency response, the man died there at the scene.
A short time later, detectives learned that another man had shown up on his own at a nearby hospital with gunshot wounds. That development would prove central to the case.
Police identified that man, the one who arrived at the hospital wounded, as the suspect in the deadly shooting. Investigators developed probable cause tying him to the killing.
Once he was identified, the wounded suspect was booked into the Pierce County Jail. Authorities are handling the case as a homicide.
He faces charges of first-degree murder and robbery in connection with the shooting. The identities of the man who was killed and the suspect were not immediately released.
