According to police records, however, a Milwaukee deputy reported detecting what was described as a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Romo's breath. That observation stood in contrast to Romo's own account that he had not consumed any alcohol before he was pulled over.
Romo was then taken to the Milwaukee County jail for a sobriety test. The records indicate that during the process he could not keep his balance and struggled through the test that officers administered to gauge his level of impairment at the scene.
