Two men charged after Mississauga carjacking in which woman was attacked

Police have charged two 23-year-old men, Evan Nurse and Shamar Salbi, after a carjacking in Mississauga in which a woman was attacked as she got out of her vehicle near Lakeshore Road West and Mississauga Road early Friday.

Two men have been charged after a carjacking in Mississauga in which a woman was attacked as she got out of her vehicle and her car was stolen. Police say one of the suspects was arrested shortly after the incident, while the second was taken into custody earlier this month, leaving both now to answer the allegations in court.

The two accused are both 23 years old. Investigators identified them as Evan Nurse and Shamar Salbi, who are now facing several charges in connection with the case after officers pieced together what they say happened that morning.

The charges the pair face include robbery, fleeing police and operating a stolen vehicle. Together, the counts point both to the violent nature of the alleged theft and to what police describe as an effort to get away from officers in the vehicle that had been taken.

According to investigators, the incident happened early on Friday, near Lakeshore Road West and Mississauga Road. The location places the attack in a part of the city where the roads meet, and it was there that the confrontation unfolded in the early hours.

Police allege that the woman was getting out of her vehicle when a man approached and demanded her keys before attacking her. After a brief struggle, the man ran off, and her vehicle was taken in the course of the attack.

In their account of the suspect, police say the man was wearing all black and a surgical mask and was carrying drumsticks at the time. The description was among the details investigators worked with as they sought to track down those believed to be responsible.

The case has since moved from the search for suspects to charges being laid. With one man arrested soon after the incident and the other detained earlier this month, both Evan Nurse and Shamar Salbi now face the robbery and related counts brought against them.
