The Israeli military has opened criminal investigations into two high-profile incidents from the war in Gaza, including the killing of a young Palestinian girl and of 15 rescue workers.
One investigation concerns the death of Hind Rajab, a five-year-old girl, whose killing the military said would now be examined by its criminal investigation division.
The other concerns the killing of 15 paramedics in southern Gaza, whose emergency vehicles were buried afterwards, in what appeared to many to be an attempt to cover up the incident.
The rescue workers were members of the Palestine Red Crescent, and their deaths had drawn international attention.
Separately, the military said it had found no reasonable suspicion of criminal misconduct in the 2024 killing of World Central Kitchen aid workers, and would not open a criminal investigation into that case.
The announcements were part of a series of decisions the military said it was releasing about investigations into its operations in Gaza.
It remains unclear how long the criminal investigations will take, what their outcome will be, and what consequences there might be if wrongdoing is established.
