Burna Boy becomes the African artist with the most Billboard Hot 100 entries

Nigerian star Burna Boy has set a new record as the African artist with the most appearances on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, reaching nine total entries. His ninth came through Dai Dai, the official 2026 FIFA World Cup song recorded with Colombian singer Shakira, which debuted at number 75. The milestone broke his previous tie with fellow Nigerian artist Tems, who has eight entries, leaving Burna Boy alone at the top of the all-time list for African acts.

Nigerian superstar Burna Boy has become the African artist with the most appearances on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, after securing his ninth entry. The milestone came through his collaboration with Colombian singer Shakira on Dai Dai, the official 2026 FIFA World Cup song, which made its debut on the chart. The achievement cements his standing as one of the most prominent African acts in the United States singles market.

With nine total entries, Burna Boy now stands alone at the top of the all-time list for African artists, nudging past his fellow Nigerian artist Tems, who sits on eight entries. The two had previously been tied at the top, and the arrival of Dai Dai on the chart broke that tie in Burna Boy's favour, giving him the outright record.

Dai Dai debuted at number 75 on the Billboard Hot 100, lifting Burna Boy's total number of chart entries to nine. The track gained further momentum after Burna Boy and Shakira performed it during the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup in Mexico, where it serves as the tournament's official song.

Earlier in the year, Burna Boy had logged his eighth entry with Only You, a collaboration featuring American rapper J. Cole, which reached number 73. That entry made him the first African artist to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive years, underlining his consistency in the American market over a sustained period.

His momentum has carried steadily across recent years. Among his earlier entries, the track WGFT, a collaboration with American rapper Gunna, peaked at number 82, helping him maintain a year-on-year presence on the United States singles chart and build toward the record he has now claimed.

Visibly excited, Burna Boy announced the milestone on his social media platforms, describing it as a significant achievement in his career. The new record extends his run of chart success in the United States, where African artists have increasingly broken through to mainstream audiences in recent years.

The achievement highlights the growing global reach of African music, with Burna Boy and a number of his contemporaries securing repeated entries on one of the world's most influential singles charts. By overtaking his closest rival on the list, Burna Boy has set a new benchmark for African artists on the Billboard Hot 100.
