The Taraba State government has reassured business owners of its commitment to implementing reforms that will foster a better enabling environment for enterprise and investment. According to Channels Television, the commitment was presented during a town hall convened by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, the Taraba State government, and private business owners.
The gathering forms part of a nationwide town hall meeting and stakeholder engagement tour by the council. The initiative has been co-designed with the World Bank, the Nigeria Governors' Forum and other partners, with the goal of supporting and intensifying business reforms at the state level across the country.
Organisers said the tour is meant to ensure that reform policies meet the specific needs of each individual state, rather than applying a single uniform approach everywhere. The Taraba stop was framed as part of that wider, state-by-state push to improve the business climate.
The Director-General of the council, who joined the session virtually, gave an overview of the engagement. He said the heart of the president's vision is a simple but powerful reality: that Nigeria can only prosper when all tiers of government move in the same direction.
Economic transformation, he added, cannot be achieved through isolated effort. It requires a synchronized national strategy in which the federal government and the states work together to create a seamless investment landscape for businesses and investors.
Governor Agbu Kefas, who was represented at the event, said the meeting offered an opportunity to assess Taraba State's business-enabling reforms. He pointed to gains in transparency, investor experience and regulatory impact analysis, delivered through a digitized one-stop shop for those seeking to do business in the state.
Kefas urged participants to renew their resolve to deepen reforms, strengthen institutions and build a future defined by the opportunities they create rather than by challenges. The town hall then moved into a panel discussion, where participants spoke on tax reforms as well as the challenges and opportunities around the ease of doing business in Taraba.
