Security agencies in Enugu State have recorded what officials described as a major breakthrough, announcing the arrest of six suspects and the recovery of a large cache of arms. The development was presented as a significant step in the state's continuing efforts against violent crime.
Governor Peter Mbah inspected the recovered weapons at the headquarters of the State Security Service in Enugu. During the visit he praised security operators for the vigilance and dedication that, according to officials, led to the seizure and the arrests.
According to the governor, the six suspects were among those wanted in connection with deadly security incidents previously recorded in the state. Their arrest was framed as part of an effort to close in on those behind the violence that has unsettled communities there.
Mbah linked the breakthrough to the state government's spending on security, saying its investment in security technology and infrastructure is now yielding concrete results. He cast the outcome as proof that the approach being taken is beginning to pay off.
The governor was emphatic about the priority his administration places on the issue. He said the government does not joke with security, calling it the be all and end all and describing it as the primary responsibility of government.
He also issued a direct warning to would be offenders, insisting that no one can commit a crime in the state and get away with it. He said the authorities now have, in his words, a full line of sight of what is going on across the state.
Mbah vowed that suspects would be pursued regardless of how long it takes, promising that those responsible would be captured and ensured of being brought to justice. The message tied the latest arrests to a broader pledge of sustained pressure on criminal networks operating in Enugu.
