The animated film Minions & Monsters topped the box office over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, edging out Toy Story to claim the number one spot at cinemas across the country.
Minions & Monsters pulled in $36 million in its debut weekend, and the film has now taken in more than $61 million in its first few days in theaters.
Toy Story 5 dropped to second place over the holiday weekend, bringing in $31 million as it continued its run at the box office.
Taking third place was Young Washington, which earned more than $20 million during the same holiday weekend.
Young Washington is a biopic that depicts the life of George Washington before he became the nation's first president.
The three films drew audiences to theaters over the busy Fourth of July holiday weekend, with the newly released Minions & Monsters coming out on top of the chart.
