Seattle police have launched a search for a suspect following a shooting in one of the city's busiest neighbourhoods. The incident unfolded in the University District, close to the University of Washington campus.
According to authorities, the shooting happened near Northeast 45th Street and University Way. It took place in the early hours of the morning, just after 2 a.m.
Images from the scene showed yellow police tape cordoning off part of the street. Officers moved in to secure the area as the investigation got under way.
One person was struck in the shooting. The victim was taken to a hospital, though their current condition has not been released by authorities.
The person police are looking for was described in only general terms. Investigators said the suspect is a man who was wearing a black sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes.
The suspect left the scene before officers could make an arrest. As of the latest update, the search for the person responsible was still ongoing.
