A man is set to be sentenced next month in connection with a deadly botched robbery in Bay Shore, on Long Island, according to prosecutors.
Prosecutors say Eric Garcia shot and killed 19-year-old Carlos Guillen during an attempted car robbery, in a case that dates back about four years.
According to prosecutors, Garcia fled to Florida after the shooting, before the case eventually made its way toward a resolution in court.
The killing of the 19-year-old during the attempted robbery has now reached its final stage in the justice system, with sentencing on the horizon.
Prosecutors say Garcia faces 25 years behind bars when he is sentenced, which is scheduled to take place next month.
The case adds to the toll of gun violence tied to robberies on Long Island, with the coming sentencing set to close the proceedings against Garcia.
