A 51-year-old bicyclist has been killed in a hit-and-run crash on Bruckner Boulevard in the Longwood section of the Bronx, and police are searching for the driver.
Investigators say a speeding driver in a black BMW was behind the wheel.
The BMW struck two unoccupied vehicles before crashing into a Hyundai Sonata and the 51-year-old cyclist.
The force of the impact pushed the Hyundai into another vehicle, creating a multi-vehicle wreck with debris scattered across the roadway.
The bicyclist was rushed to a hospital but could not be saved. Another person was also taken to a hospital.
After the crash, the BMW driver abandoned the vehicle and got into another car before fleeing the area.
Witnesses told police the BMW appeared to be speeding before the initial collision.
A memorial of candles has grown at the scene, where residents say they want the driver found and held accountable.
