Three men were shot in the Bronx on Thursday afternoon, with one of them left in critical condition. The gunfire broke out on Commonwealth Avenue in the Soundview section, a little more than an hour before authorities gave their update from the scene.
Police say the shooting happened at around 3:15 in the afternoon. The three men were standing on Commonwealth Avenue when someone inside a white SUV, traveling north on Commonwealth Avenue toward Randall Avenue, opened fire on them.
According to authorities, multiple shots rang out. All three men who were hit were taken to Jacobi Hospital for treatment as officers flooded the block and began processing the scene.
Two of the victims are expected to survive. A 29-year-old man who was shot in the shoulder was listed in stable condition, and a 28-year-old man who was shot in the back was also listed in stable condition.
The third man was more seriously wounded. He was shot in the head and was listed in critical condition, making him the focus of concern as the investigation got under way.
Investigators say they are still looking for the white SUV involved in the shooting. No arrests had been made as of the latest update, and the investigation remained ongoing.
