A man has been charged with concealment of a human corpse after another man was found dead at a Crown Heights apartment building in Brooklyn, according to police.
Police say 53-year-old Jose Rivera was taken into custody on Friday and charged in connection with the case. Investigators say Rivera lived in the same apartment as the man who was found dead.
According to police, Rivera has since been released, even as the investigation into the circumstances of the death continues.
The NYPD has not released the name of the man who was found dead, and authorities have kept many of the details of the case under wraps for now.
The medical examiner has not yet shared an official cause of death, a key question that investigators are still working to answer.
Police were continuing to look into how the man died and the circumstances that led to the concealment charge, as the case remained active.
