A new place for older members of the South Asian and Indo-Caribbean community has opened in Hicksville, in Nassau County, according to News 12.
The free program provides activities and cultural celebrations for South Asian and Indo-Caribbean seniors, giving them a space to gather, socialize and stay active.
According to News 12, the new site is the organization's sixth location, part of a growing effort to reach seniors in the community across the area.
The program runs inside the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church on Jerusalem Avenue, where participants can take part in the offerings on a regular schedule.
Organizers said the program is held every Tuesday and Friday, with a focus that includes staying fit and active alongside the social and cultural activities.
Programs like this one aim to give seniors a welcoming place of their own, helping older residents stay connected to their community and their culture.
