Driver killed in two-car crash during private event at Pacific Raceways in Kent

A two-car crash during a private event at Pacific Raceways in Kent left one person dead, the King County Sheriff's Office says. Three race cars were involved, but the other drivers were not seriously hurt, and the incident is under investigation.

A private event at Pacific Raceways in Kent ended in tragedy when a two-car crash left one person dead. According to the King County Sheriff's Office, one of the drivers involved in the collision died at the scene, turning what had been a gathering at the motorsports track into the site of a fatal incident.

The King County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened just after two o'clock in the afternoon the previous day. The collision took place during a private event at the Kent facility, and authorities were alerted to reports of a two-vehicle crash on the grounds of the raceway.

Sheriff's deputies and King County Fire both responded to the scene after the reports came in. The multi-agency response brought emergency crews to the track as they worked to reach those caught up in the crash and to assess how many people had been affected by the collision.

Despite the rescuers' best efforts, one of the drivers involved in the crash could not be saved and died at the scene. Emergency responders were unable to reverse the outcome for the driver, whose death is now the focus of the authorities looking into what happened.

Rescuers say three race cars were involved in the incident overall. Beyond the driver who died, the other drivers caught up in the crash were not seriously hurt, according to those who responded, sparing the private event from an even heavier toll on the day.

The King County Sheriff's Office says the incident remains under investigation. Officials have not yet detailed the sequence of events that led to the two-car crash at the Kent track, and the inquiry into how the collision unfolded at the private event is ongoing.
