Three Huntington massage parlors tied to 1 million dollar prostitution ring

The Suffolk County District Attorney says three Long Island massage parlors were the front for a 1 million dollar prostitution and money laundering operation disguised as neighborhood businesses. The case followed a 16-month investigation, and the town of Huntington is now weighing tougher rules.

Three Long Island massage parlors served as the front for a 1 million dollar prostitution and money laundering operation disguised as ordinary neighborhood businesses, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney, News 12 New York reported. The case is the result of a lengthy 16-month investigation into the alleged scheme.

All three locations are clustered within the town of Huntington, just minutes apart from one another. According to the indictment described in the report, the businesses involved were the Lavender Spa Salon, the Huntington Spa and the Long Island Green Apple Spa, which prosecutors say operated as part of a single illegal enterprise.

The operation ran in plain sight in an everyday setting. One of the parlors sits near the Huntington Manor Fire Department, with private homes located directly behind the building, a detail that highlighted how an alleged criminal enterprise could function quietly within a familiar residential and commercial area.

Investigators moved in this week. Authorities carried out raids on the locations on Tuesday and seized cash during the searches. Prosecutors say some of that money was used to promote the illegal businesses, and that proceeds even went toward making mortgage payments tied to the operation.

For neighbors, the news came as a jolt. One resident said they had no idea the activity was taking place so close to home, describing it as going on in their front yard the entire time without their knowledge and calling the situation disgusting now that it had come to light.

Local officials are now looking at a stronger response. The town of Huntington says it is considering a dedicated task force focused on massage parlors, as well as increasing the fines for illegal businesses, which currently reach as high as 25,000 dollars per violation.

Built over more than a year of investigative work, the case now moves toward prosecution. With three parlors named and cash already seized, officials are weighing tougher measures aimed at preventing similar operations from taking root in the community in the future.
