A driver in Michigan was pulled to safety only moments before his pickup truck was completely engulfed in flames, in a dramatic roadside rescue captured on body camera. The footage shows an officer and good Samaritans racing to save the man, in what was described as a heart-stopping few moments on the side of the road.
The rescue unfolded in a race against the clock. According to the reporting, an Osceola County Sheriff's deputy, in an area north of Grand Rapids, responded to the burning pickup truck and rushed to reach the driver who was trapped inside as the situation grew more dangerous by the second.
The body camera video captured the frantic scene as the deputy arrived. According to the account, the deputy jumps out of his vehicle and runs to the truck stopped on the side of the road, with flames already shooting from the hood as he approaches the burning vehicle.
The driver, however, could not get out on his own. According to the reporting, the man remained trapped inside the truck, with his leg stuck, leaving him unable to escape the vehicle as the fire continued to spread and the danger to his life increased.
Others at the scene did not hesitate to step in. According to the account, bystanders jumped into action alongside the deputy, and several people worked together to pull the trapped driver, joining the effort to free him from the pickup truck before it was too late.
