Armed robber steals about $12,000 from Chase Bank in Boonton, New Jersey

Authorities in New Jersey are searching for a well-dressed, armed man who robbed a Chase Bank branch off Myrtle Avenue in Boonton on Saturday afternoon, escaping with about $12,000. The Morris County Prosecutor's Office is asking anyone with information to come forward.

Investigators in New Jersey have launched a search for a well-dressed, armed man who carried out a brazen daylight bank robbery on Saturday afternoon, walking out with thousands of dollars in cash. The case, reported by Eyewitness News ABC7NY, has prompted an appeal to the public as authorities work to identify and locate the suspect still at large.

According to investigators, the robbery took place at the Chase Bank branch located off Myrtle Avenue in Boonton. The hold-up unfolded during regular afternoon hours, when the bank would typically be open to customers, turning an ordinary day at a neighborhood branch into the scene of an active criminal investigation.

Authorities say the suspect was armed with a pistol when he walked into the bank. After confronting staff and demanding money, the man left the branch with about $12,000 in cash, fleeing before officers could arrive at the scene.

What stood out to investigators was the suspect's appearance. He was described as wearing a black suit along with gloves, a ski mask and sunglasses, an outfit that gave him a deliberately polished look while concealing his face and hands from witnesses and surveillance cameras inside the bank.

After collecting the money, the robber fled the area in a vehicle described by authorities as a gray or silver Honda Odyssey. Tracing that vehicle has become a key part of the effort to track down the suspect in the hours since the robbery.

The Morris County Prosecutor's Office is handling the investigation and has turned to the public for help. Officials are asking anyone with information that could lead to an arrest to contact the prosecutor's office directly, hoping that tips from the community will help advance the case.

As of the latest reporting, the suspect remained at large and the search was ongoing. Authorities continued to review the available evidence and to appeal for any details that might help identify the man responsible for the armed robbery at the Boonton branch.
