More than a month after an elderly man was shot dead in a Queens park, his family is stepping up the push to find his killer. According to Eyewitness News, relatives of the victim are joining lawmakers to draw fresh attention to a case that remains unsolved, hoping new pressure will finally produce a breakthrough.
At the center of their appeal is a larger cash incentive. The family is set to announce an increased reward of 20,000 dollars for any information leading to the arrest of whoever was responsible, raising the stakes for anyone who may know something but has so far stayed silent.
The victim has been remembered as a cherished member of his family. He was 75-year-old Albert Iskowitz, described as a beloved grandfather, whose killing has left those close to him searching for answers about how an ordinary day in the park ended in violence.
The circumstances of his death point to a shooting. Iskowitz was found dead near Casino Lake on May 18th, and detectives recovered a single shell casing next to his body. Crucially, the weapon used in the killing was not found at the scene, leaving investigators with limited physical evidence.
In the weeks since, authorities have tried to reassure the surrounding community. The NYPD has added extra patrols in the park, a visible response aimed at both deterring further violence and signalling that the area is being watched closely while the investigation continues.
For now, the case still hinges on the public's help. Police are searching for the person who carried out the shooting, and the increased reward is intended to encourage anyone with information to come forward, in the hope that a tip will lead detectives to the killer.
