Two people were seriously hurt after a boat slammed into a jetty in Sag Harbor, on the East End of Long Island, in a nighttime crash that has led to an arrest.
According to police, the boat hit the jetty last night, seriously injuring two people who were then helped by first responders rushing to the scene.
Investigators identified the driver of the boat as Peter Mangiamelli of Southampton, who was taken into custody in connection with the crash.
Police say that after striking the jetty, Mangiamelli docked the boat and then left the scene, even as first responders were there working to help the injured.
