According to reports, the analyst firm TrendForce expects global humanoid robot shipments to breach 50,000 units in 2026, which would represent a surge of around 700 percent over the previous year. Even if such projections prove optimistic, they point to rapidly growing momentum in the sector.
Tesla's Optimus at work
One of the most watched projects is Tesla's Optimus. According to reports, the robot stands about 1.73 meters tall, weighs roughly 57 kilograms, can deadlift around 68 kilograms and carry about 20 kilograms while moving. Notably, units are already said to be working inside Tesla's Fremont factory, where they help with tasks such as sorting battery cells.
The price question
When it comes to cost, expectations need to be tempered with caution. According to reports, Atlas has transitioned from hydraulic to fully electric actuation and is now in commercial production. On the technical side, the electric Atlas is described as a capable machine.
